Prospect Hill Winery  

Prospect Hill Winery is a family run business growing 5 varieties of white grapes, 

8 varieties of red and dedicated to producing quality wines made exclusively from our own grapes.  We began planting grapes in 2002 and began to

establish commercially in 2005. Our hillside vineyard prospers in the Maine
summer sun and our vines are choosen to weather the Maine winters.

In 2006, we bottled a tangy white Elvira as well as several reds.  Our red wines are aged for at least eighteen months prior to release.

In 2007, we had our first significant harvest, bottling Frontenac,

Foch, Saint Vincent, Saint Croix, and Chancellor; in addition to several

blends and our fruity whites; Elvira and Edelweiss.  

In 2008, despite the inclement weather, we had an unexpectantly

bountiful harvest. Our 2008 white wines were bottled and sold out in 2009 as were

the 2007 reds.

2009 saw a rainy July but the August and September sun ripened the grapes wonderfully and again our dedicated harvesters brought in a great crop.  The 2009 white whites and 2008 reds were a superior vintage and sold out.

The 2010 season was very busy and the vineyard loved the warm weather.  We  harvested 3 new varieties, Aurore, Landot Noir and Sabrevois that fall.

After a warm, dry summer the grapes showed color and were ready to harvest 2-3 weeks early.  We again thank our crew of harvesters who helped to pick a bountiful crop.

In 2011, we released the 2009 reds and 2010 whites when we reopened for regular hours in May.  We quickly sold out of many varieities.  We harvested our Aurore grapes Labor Day weekend and harvested the rest of the 2011 crop in early fall. 

The 2011 harvest is complete!  The showers on October 1st were not as numerous as forecast and we were able to bring in another abundant crop.  We lost some grapes to birds this year-they didn't seem to mind the nets or the bird call recordings.  Our thanks to the efforts of our amazing harvesters who picked the vines better than the birds!
